Users of Clipstream Video can choose to publish
on a per-clip basis. (This is different from term licensing or unlimited
licensing). By publishing you are buying a license to either syndicate
a single clip to unlimited domains -or- a license that allows
you to publish a limited number of clips but tied to a specific domain.
If you already have a serial number for your per-clip license, proceed to
the Next Step:
Why publish per-clip over term licensing?
If you only have a limited number of clips or are encoding for a one-time
project you should explore this method. If you plan to use Clipstream
Video regularly and have large numbers of clips then you should explore
term licensing.

is available here:
How does the licensing work for per-clip publishing?
There are two models for per-clip publishing:
- Domain-specific / multiple clips:
- for a set number of clips locked to a specific domain.
- a serial number is provided on purchase that is applied to the
applet code that plays clips encoded with your encoder
- you will be allowed to encode a number of clips that must be hosted
on your specified domain
- once you have used up your limit, you must purchase another serial
number
- there is no time limitation on when you must use up your publish
limit
- there is no time limitation on how long the clips will play
- each clip may contain several bit rate versions
Ex.
48k, 128k, 256k....
- Syndicated: Single-clip / unlimited domains:
- For a single clip that might be hosted on any domain.
- a serial number is provided on purchase that is applied to the
applet code that plays that clip
- the serial number will not work for any other clip
- to publish additional clips you must purchase another serial number
- there is no time limitation on how long the clips will play
- each clip may contain several bit rate versions
Ex.
48k, 128k, 256k....
What is a clip?
A clip is a set of video (.vcs) files encoded by the
Clipstream
Video 3 Encoder from a single source.
Ex.
mymovie.mov ->
mymovie_48.vcs, mymovie_128.vcs, mymovie_256.vcs,
mymovie_512.vcs ...
Testing a Clipstream Video encode before Publishing
You may encode as many times as you want in order to test the file. You
may also upload the clip to your server and test it (with a watermark) for
bandwidth performance.
In order to remove the watermark from the clip you must purchase a per-clip
license and publish the clip
- or -
purchase a domain license.
